It’s interesting to me that some people are assuming Nadia’s about to unleash hell on Bones, when it looks to me like Bones is encouraging the very response he’s getting from her and isn’t concerned at all.
I think the fire (I know it looks like lightning in the first panel, but in the previous page and in the other panels, it looks like fire) is actually coming out FROM Nadia.
The last panel seems like a very painful super saiyan transformation? I’m half expecting her hair to turn yellow.
I love that her eyes have become yellow. As for Mr. Bones, its definitely not happiness. It looks more like determination or concern. Determination might come in if he’s of a thinking “Well I figured this would be happening sooner or later. Might as well deal with the consequences now.” or concern because while being an “enemy” really he relies on her as her darker half. Like a protective yet vicious dog.
I don’t think he is mad or nervous at all. HE WANTS THIS TO HAPPEN. He is trying to play on her emotions and get angry. I think he wants to “claim” her. I know it sounds too Light and Dark Side Jedi-y. But I look at it as more evil verse good. She isn’t claimed or marked in this world, and if he can corrupt her and bend her to his will it is a good thing. I think this is a very dangerous time for Nadia.
Contextual reference: Mr. Bones’ surprise at Nadia’s bluebird of happiness. I can only hope that even if Mr. Bones wants Nadia to do this, Nadia goes above and beyond even what Mr. Bones expects.
Yea, somehow the expression Mr Bones is giving seems like surprise or a ‘What the?’ moment, like he wasn’t expecting THIS reaction and even he isn’t sure whats going to happen next.
I know that face, that is the face of silent triumph. Damn you Mr. Bones! I know the whole lightening thing is you fault somehow you magnificent bastard D:<
Hmmm. The force/lightning bolt as drawn is aimed at Nadia, but it *isn’t* coming from Mr. Bones. Check out the second panel — the yellow is in the background.
On the other hand, I see Mr. Bones face as being grim and determined which would indicated to me that he is, as Sam4books says, responsible for the action. It might be a direct connection to the force that ripped up through the floor of the Underside in the previous page, in which case we could still get a pleasant surprise as she absorbs the force and creates with it. I’m still holding out for an instantiation of the drawing I have referenced previously.
I dunno. The situation to me from Bones’ perspective screams: This is something that is supposed to happen but I’m not sure exactly what will happen. It’s kinda like: “Choose the form of the destructor!” The fact that something big is about to happen is given, but exactly what is going to happen is unknown. Bones has been here before. He incited this reaction. His game plan is to watch and see and be ready for what comes.
Personally, I think that we are going to see Nadia’s solution to the problem of Mr Bones taking the nightmares from her and turning them into tangible monsters. The question is: is she going to conjure hate and destruction to counter his hate and destruction? I think that’s what he wants. I think as we saw earlier with the battleship game, her ‘ammunition’ was always unexpectedly beautiful and led to magical, and eventually useful results.
Besides, we need some more bright colors in the comic again.
Not that I’m sure people are terribly interested in my opinion, but I wanted to clarify, I’m fairly certain that Nadia is being assaulted by the fabric of her dark imaginings right now, with such intensity that the very earth she stands on cannot contain it, and that Mr. Bones is standing back with a somewhat vindicated “Y’know I TOLD you…” satisfaction. That having been said I’m sure Nadia’s soon to find what she needs to begin to turn the tables, if only to render her escape and nothing more. Perhaps her chapeau, or perhaps something from within. There’s my clarification from my earlier Neo-esque “WHOA” moment.
