Also, mr bones (whether he realizes it or not) and nadia about to get rained on by rock shrapnel from the broken pillar, considering how close they are.
Ramon, this blows the pants off Avatar. The visuals you are working with on a 2 dimensional plane are amazing, the story is compelling, every image, every word (or in some cases lack of words) leave you wanting more. To see where this has grown from in the last year and a half is truly awe-inspiring!
It is sad to see the whale take a tumble, but like the giant purple giraffe before him, this is merely a jumping off point to the next twist in the story. Here’s to hoping the Brigade is together! Strength in numbers, not in size!
I dunno. The battlewhale is much bigger than the whojit, and almost solid muscle. Right now it’s startled, but once it gets its bearings it’ll shake off the whojit and hand its rocky ass to it.
So I reckon the whole point of this exercise is to rip off the palanquin and separate the brigade from the whale. I doubt the whale’s in much danger.
The rest of them, though…
(Incidentally, a lot of these scenes would make awesome posters.)
Agreed. The Battlewhale doesn’t look that hurt, and now it’s free to maneuver without concern for it’s cargo. I say he’s going to go right -through- the Whojit!
*Clings to edge of seat* Ramon!! You… you… you big meanie!! You can’t go flinging around a battle whale and then make us wait to see what happens next. I cant take the suspense… *Dies*
wayyyyyyy better than avatar this is the movie that sould have been made, and i’m not talking about the visuals. the plot line and suspense are more than classic. i can see me sharing this with my great grandchildren (when they come along) whats not to like? I just found you today and went through the whole set, i do hope there will be a series of books comming.
Look, your art is awesome and you tell some interesting stories (and jokes at BNS), but your lack of consistency in posting is killing you. The webcomics that do the best aren’t necessarily the best looking but the ones that can keep to a solid schedule. I know life can get hectic, but if you want to keep us all hooked you have to deliver on a schedule. If you can’t make that commitment maybe this field isn’t for you. As far as I can tell it’s the ONLY thing stopping you, because every piece of work exudes quality.
Ramon’s a professional artist. It tends to be feast or famine. If he’s not posting it’s not because he’s lazy, it’s because he’s paying the bills. Or having legal spats with his landlord… Or touring Europe…
Come to think of it that last one was more for him, but anyway, lord knows it’s not like he’s out getting laid. Have you read Butternut Squash?
I keep expecting some sort of love intrest between bones and naida. Cause he’s the only humanish one there. And evil and good pairings are so much fun.
But i still want to see him get punched. or his skull whacked off.
@ Brandon
You can’t exactly expect him to perform per deadline on something he isn’t being paid to do. He’s doing this in his spare time, so lighten up and expect to take backseat to real life sometimes!
And @whoever wants Ramon to write/draw more- there is a beautifully drawn hat- click on it and give the man money. This is a hobby, unless you are a paying customer you really don’t get to complain. He makes no promise that this is anything other than a hobby…read your fine print.
Sadly I have no money to give to Ramon, and hence I do not complain. I confabulate.
Thank you Xenon. Being the “Art is alas a hobby” sort myself (I’m working on a webcomic– scanner being operational is a must, y’know) I don’t think heckling the artist is a good way to ensure frequent updates.
Hmmm. I’m having a little problem with the PoV. Morvo dived down from the nightmare monster to get to the battlewhale, but this nightmare monster is clearly reaching out as it swings the whale against the pillar of rock. At the same time, the claw did come down in the previous view. I think this is a different nightmare monster than the one that Zomgz is battling.
It’s well known that money can make people autonomous. But what to do when somebody doesn’t have cash? The one way is to try to get the mortgage loans or short term loan.
Where’s Zomgz at?
Also, mr bones (whether he realizes it or not) and nadia about to get rained on by rock shrapnel from the broken pillar, considering how close they are.
Everybody better get into their lifeboats!
Main the lifeboats – ladies , children and small animals first . The captyain may go down with his faithful ship. May She have mercy on our souls .
oh jeez. poor battlewhale. mr. bones is gonna get his ass handed to him by the brigade!
Ahhhhh maaaannnnn…… I LIKED the whale!! C’mon Nadia, kick his bony arse up ‘tween his ear-holes!!
Holy shit!
NO NOT THE BATTLEWHALE
scared
wait, would the lifeboats on a battlewhale be smaller whales like an orca whale or what?

“Kukuburi – the movie”
I’d go see that.
OT: NOOOOoooooooooo, battlewhale! Whyyyyyyyy?

Oh dear. That can’t be good.
:Eep!!:
STUNNING. Freakin’ love this action sequence.
I don’t know what that thing is, but I don’t want any part of it.
Peril! For real!!
This is an impressive scene, and I agree, it would make an awesome poster or background.
Perilous peril!!
Oh gods, I hope the whale will be okay
Where’s Zomgz??? AAaaAAAaaAAAAAaaah!! That thing’s a nightmare!…both literatally and figuratively!!
Everybody hold on tiiiiiiiiiight!
@Lee Cherolis: Your avatar is always so fitting with your comments! :D lol!
Nicole – That’s because I only post when I feel like that. :)
Great strip, glad to see the whale made it.

On a more sensible note. Purty… very very purty.

This is how I would take care of Boney if I were Nadia.

you are correct odo! i should have made this more clear, had a stronger establishing shot. something to address in the final print version…
Uh-oh. It’s seafood night in nightmare land….
Gawd, who ARE these people who complain about the timing???? WTH?? It’s a FREE webcomic. The art is clearly worth way more than that, so get a life!
Ramon, I don’t care how long it takes. I’m hooked on Kukuburi to the glorious end!
Amen, Nicole! I totally agree. Ramon, this is an amazing comic.
