Probably not when he’s scared. The color change is probably indicitive of another change that will shortly happen. Else the ever important space used by bubble text might not have been used up simply to point it out. Just a theory though.
Maybe his shell color changes when his emotion changes.
I’m thinking more that it’s related to the bluebird we witnessed being born earlier. Maybe because she’s acting the hero it’s affecting Mr. Snail?
It was blue at first then turned red and now it’s changing back, odd.
