There’s got to be two of them…or it’s two-headed. The speech bubbles are slightly different colors, and the lighter shade seems to be congradulating the darker-shaded speech-bubble’s owner on its throw.
Maybe it was the rock-person who made the mushroom-thing do that to her?
I gotta say, I’m ashamed for not commenting sooner. I read a LOT of webcomics, but this one is just…Mindblowing so far.
Aw, look at the green-lizard-thing’s tongue hang out. Just like a puppy. A vicious, carnivorous puppy.
Love your comic as always, whenever it updates.
Have to say though, the gradient speckle pattern on the rocks? Not loving so much. Just doesn’t match the clear-cut coloring of the rest of the page. But I’m crazy, ignore me.
Keep on truckin’. And being amazing.
And have fun at the Con! Wish I were there (but I’m here.)
oh NO now what reason will I have next tuesday to get out of bed at all? YOUR WOOSH LINES WERE KEEPING ME GOING RAMON. I feel the intense weight of the real world pushing me into the ground again… Just kidding. Love your dedication to the quality of your comic. seeya in 14
Awesome Ramon, even if I spun in circles repeatedly I couldn’t aspire to such wooshy perfection.
There’s got to be two boulder-monster dudes because both slavering dino-beasts were tossed at the same time and the top frame on this page only shows the one doggie. They have such great lines, Ramon! And two rows of teeth!
I agree with Cat on the gradient shading. I prefer the usual clean lines. There’s no harm in experimenting though, keep up the good work and we’ll see you in two weeks! I love Kukuburi!
Energie o2 – you got it wrong – one boulder-dude and one doggie (call it “doggie #2 – from the pinnacle across from our heroine). Tossed from pinnacle to land on top of doggie #1 standing just above our heroine. Both go splat. Got it now?
Go back and check the last 4 or 5 panels and see if you don’t agree.
Love the comic, especially the little details like how the speech bubble line in the first frame is wrapped around just like the woosh lines… everything about this is just excellent.
I’m glad my next two weeks are insane so they’ll go by quickly.
Awesome!!!
Man this is suffering. I always wait for the whole graphic novel to be publish together because I hate having to wait for the next issue to come… Why do I keep coming here every Wednesday?
Did you add in the “Bingo” to the previous comic after it was posted? Am I imagining things? You can never tell with these crazy internet comics. And I really have a hard time picturing a big floaty boulder guy being so goofy, so maybe he’s got like a smaller creature riding around on him providing moral support? Maybe a talking hat?
i feel the action so well conceived in the first panel is let down by the lack of any real feeling of force or movement in the second. that said, i’ve loved your art since the beginning of the ’squash. thanks for doing both :)
Just wanted to say that I’ve never read a comic with such a consistently high post rate. The story and art are both great. Epic, one might say. I am curious, are you familiar with Rice-boy? http://www.rice-boy.com/ It’s also rather epic I think. Anyway, can’t wait for more, but don’t strain yourself doing it, I think we’ll need you around for a while yet!
In fact, I just thought I’d let you know that I’ve enjoyed it so much that the Ghrung made an impactful appearance at my gaming table, in my Star Wars Saga Edition campaign, and I actually got the players to run away as I flooded them with the beasties.
Ramon, I just had a thought, looking at the last panel.
I know you worked hard on the swoosh lines in panel one, but I was thinking that maybe one little swoosh line and maybe a pow line or two might spruce up panel 2, maybe for the book version?
“With added content!” *grin.* Waiting for tomorrow with as much patience as I can muster.
How long does it take to scan them into the computer? Just curious. I don’t know how this stuff works and it says you updated your Twitter 15 hours ago :-)
Jen –
I suspect that something else came up, though scanners are notoriously persnickety. After he scans it, however, there is post-processing to do, to get things *just* right. If you add a work-related “emergency” (because the boss said so, that’s why it’s an emergency), you get hungry-eyed fans just staring at their screens, whimpering softly, waiting to be fed on Kukuburi goodness.
*whimper* ((Hey, if we all make our eyes big and brown and shiny maybe the treats will come faster.))
Ah, but Jen, scanning only gets the glorious black & white artwork into digital format. After that, there’s still all the colour & lettering magic left to be done….
We’re lucky that you update as often as you do.
Beautiful swooshes, btw.
Yay for Mr. Boulder!
We will only be totally devastated for a week, Ramon. Have fun.
I like the speech patterns. Learned from TV? :-)
Prettiest whoosh lines ever ;)
They are beautiful whoosh lines. Update when you like, I am always delighted to see a new one, but it’s your time.
Yet Another SWEET! Strip

Yeah, I’m digging Mr. Boulder too – I like him already. I don’t mind the action in bits and pieces, it’s adds to the suspense.
That ‘BAFF’ is classic – straight out of old Batman. Have fun in NYC Ramon!
NYC? COOL! Will you have a booth?
Well, the swooshes look great!

For some reason this reminds me of Rescuers Down Under. Why?!?!
Awesome Ramon, even if I spun in circles repeatedly I couldn’t aspire to such wooshy perfection.

Wasn’t expecting that, for sure. :)
Awesome job, as usual. Don’t kill yourself making these, Ramon! Coincidentally, I’ll be in NYC this weekend too. o.O
well if you see me in the streets feel free to harass me ;)
Awesome work.
See ya in 2 weeks. Hope NYCC treats you well.
Is it just me or does the monster-dog look oddly happy?
is he talking to himself or is there somebody else with him?
Answers and more it 2 weeks …… I will have to re-read the archives next week!!!
Love the comic, especially the little details like how the speech bubble line in the first frame is wrapped around just like the woosh lines… everything about this is just excellent.
I’m glad my next two weeks are insane so they’ll go by quickly.
YEAH!! I’m gonna be at NYCC on Saturday! I’ll be sure to look for you
Fuckin A, NYCC! I am going to be all over that shit this weekend. Yeeeeah!
Ramon – were you thinking of that old song “and the music goes round and round and it ends up here”?
Just wondering – that – and the Andy Bee comment in TACC
Enjoy Cabbage Town – stay off of Jarvis . ( :>))
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH
you pulled it off gracefully
Dunno – might be onlyone boulder – i think he threw the first puppy (the one that overshot mammselle) and hit the second puppy (hence the “bullseye”)
and as to seperate colored bubbles – tough to tell as the background around the bubbles are different and may be causing an optical illusion.
Also dont we already have a 2 for 1 deal? yellow dragon in the hat brigade i believe.
Awesome!!!
Man this is suffering. I always wait for the whole graphic novel to be publish together because I hate having to wait for the next issue to come… Why do I keep coming here every Wednesday?
Can’t resist… I must be a masochist.
Beautiful.
Whammo! :D
Poor Puppysauruses, though… I still want one all of my ownsies.

the extra time on the whoosh lines really shows.
props mate

To Donovan – you said “Did you add in the “Bingo” to the previous comic after it was posted?”
When back and checked my files – added the “Bingo” one a short time after Ramon posted it and it was included at that time . Just for your info .
Beautiful comic, I’m a huge fan of all your work.
Best swoosh lines in all of art.
How was your trip to NYC, Ramon? :)
Really amazing comic.
Great storyline.
I love the entire world you’ve created.
Quite wonderful in every way.
thanks for all the compliments! i’m glad people are enjoying the story unfold. things are gonna get a little interesting now too…
megan: had a great time! it was a nice getaway with friends, sprinkled with a little work. the only downside is this nasty cold i got.
till tuesday!
BULLS EYE! haha that was great ;) and I think the whoosh lines are perfect ;)~
Wow. This is one of those acid trip-esque but completely amazing comics. I love it, I think it’s my new favorite!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Ah-ha! Now I understand! I didn’t know that…it’s all rather new to me…
