  1. Tim Fischer says:

Always worth the wait, Ramon. Take care of yourself.

  2. Pibb says:

    Waiting patiently. :D

  3. astrocom says:

I’ve been following this comic semi-obsessively, It’s fantastic really, a completely unique and surreal fiction, which is fantastic because while there are many high quality fictions out there, they all seem to involve elves, the four classical elements, and elemental magic, bleh.
In other notes, I want to be a member of l’académie des chapeaux or la brigade du chapeau, they’re definitely the coolest good guys out there, and was that hats growing on trees way back? (and is the “battlewhale” technically wearing a hat or what?)

but so yes, the moral is: i’m suffering from kukuburi withdrawl

  4. Odo says:

    Oh, poot.

Rest and recuperate, Ramon, while the rest of us go quietly mad.

In truth, there are some things that just have to take time. The pen cannot traverse the paper faster than the speed of sound, and usually a good deal slower.

Astro — the battlewhale is most definitely wearing a hat. It is clearly a full member of the brigade.

Hmmm.. We haven’t seen the top of boulder-guy. Is it possible that it, too, is a member?

  5. Astrocom says:

to quote my post on a previous comic:”The levitating armed boulder! he is from the image in kukuburi’s transmission x youtube video!”
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbyaWaGD6fY
i think he has a patch of grass with a flower on his head, where a hat would be

also @ Odo: i think my goal for the next year or so is to disprove your statement about the speed pens can traverse paper at.

  6. Odo says:

OMG! You are so right! And the flower.. That might be from the first “hit” … Or it might be that it just grows there, too, you know. Still, it has a chapeau, so it is a “good guy”.

Of course the one we’ve been looking at might be a different floaty boulder… That might be bad.

When you achieve your result, please record it with highspeed cameras and a full paper in the Annal of Irreproducible Results. Remember that fire extinguishers are your friend, too. Are you writing a novel or are you an artist?

  7. Tim says:

Good stuff takes time Mr Perez and what you do is good.

Do not forget to schedule sleep and fun: they keep you the cheerful creative guy who is uniquely able to make this stuff.

Not keeping a deal you make with yourself is a great source of guilt. Lose the guilt and just renegociate a deal that you can keep without losing sleep ;-)

  8. Emmy says:

Your concern is so cute it makes me want to give you a hug ^.^
Beautiful art does not lose fandom for being a day late…

  9. Jane says:

Better a late comic than a burned-out artist. I wait patiently with popcorn at the ready.

  10. 13thclam says:

Well, at least we know it’s not hanging out with the beef.

Comic tommorow is better than waiting another week, which turns into a month, which turns into a year for an update.

  11. anna says:

as long as you promise to not leave this dead in the water, i promise to love it and wait patiently. :)

  12. Phill Evans says:

    Ramon,

Waiting adds sauce to the dish.

  13. Dan says:

No need to apologize man. We’re getting all this goodness for free! I don’t feel like we really have the right to complain….

Take your time and get some rest. We’ll be here when you get back.

  14. Lee Cherolis says:

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll check back later today.

  15. Helen says:

The reason we’re impatiant is because we know its going to be great…and for great things we’ll wait as long we have to! Dont feel under pressure, we’ll love it just as much whenever it comes :D
And if anyone gives you a bad time we’ll beat them up for you :p

  16. Chip says:

    Ramon,

Relax. You’re doin’ this for free. It isn’t worth getting sick over. I think most of us understand (especially those of us who produce our own books).

    The apology is utterly unnecessary.

Post when you can. I’ll check in regularly.

Thanks for the great work. You inspire the hell outta me.

    Later,
    Chip

  17. Patty R says:

Don’t worry – patience is worthwhile and we don’t want you getting sick or worse over having to juggle so much. :)

  18. Vlan2k says:

Oh come ON!! Buck up and cope, little camper. What’s a couple of all-nighters in a row?! You have a RESPONSIBILITY to us, your addicts!!

    *ducks under the desk* ;)

In all honesty, as it has been said over and over and over again… it’s really not worth killing yourself over. We’ll be here… waiting patiently for the next brilliant installment.

  19. ursie says:

it’s alright, i know what it’s like to be sleep-deprived, & i’m pretty sure everyone else will understand too..

we still love you mr. p! [:

  20. Doug says:

    Rest up, Ramon!
You comics guys need to take good care of yourselves!

  21. CoyoteLovely says:

You don’t have to apologize to us, Ramon! Allthough, if you want to post cute apologizes with the Meepie Bird, I think it’s absolutely adorable, and also think that you could start a cafe’ press site with t-shirts of the birdie, and I’d totlal buy one….

    So I’m really not complaining.

Get some sleep, Master Artist! We are your loyal army of fans.

  22. Chris says:

Listen to Chip. And remember to eventually package it up and make a buck or two. It’s brilliant.

  23. Hey, no worries! Kukuburi is one of the most beautiful webcomics out there and I can understand it would take a hell of a lot of work to pull off! Take your time – we’ll all still be here waiting when you’re ready!

  24. PiP says:

Worth the wait! Get some rest!

  25. M says:

Rest rest! Get some sleep. Comics are no good if you work yourself ragged keeping them updated.

  26. Liz!boliscious says:

Its ok kukuburi is well worth the wait! Any time the comic has been late I feel we are well rewarded with the wonderful art and the interesting story you are giving us! I’m greatly looking forward to the next update!

    Get some rest!

  27. aguane says:

You know it won’t kill us if you decide to do biweekly updates instead of weekly ones. So it takes longer for the story to unfold, creativity takes time. We’d rather wait than have you burn yourself out. Think about it – twice a month instead of weekly – who knows it could be the best thing ever.

  28. Connor says:

The best things in life are worth waiting for, you’ve got nothin to apologize for, dude. Keep it real :)

  29. Roscoe says:

    Hey Ramon,
No worries man, Rest up and take all the time you need, we’ll be waiting patiently. Besides, as has been mentioned, we’re getting this piece of fun and wonder for free, plus, “absence makes the heart grow fonder.”

  30. Chameleon says:

hey… health, and sanity for that matter, come first ;) I’ll just keep checking back until it’s update ;) get some rest and recoup

  31. Sobye says:

Lol, when I started reading I thought Ramon was going RPG World on us. I always read the comic on Wednesdays anyway, cause time zone craziness.

  32. colin says:

he updates very slowly, but does fantastic art and story line, i guess i’ll just have to wait patiently, which i’m good at!

  33. Bambi says:

Take it easy fella. We’ll all wait kindly and support you when you need us :D

  34. fciron says:

Hey, just joining the crowd saying that it’s cool. I can wait.

You already update more reliably than most.

  35. Puzuma says:

    Thank god!
Here I thought I was losing my mind. I had myself convinced yesterday was still Sunday and still had 2 days before the Kukuburi update.

Does this mean I can blame my insanity on the evil corporate overlords that pay Ramone’s rent?

  36. Seolyk says:

Rest as much as you need! It’s good to have something to look forward to in the day :D

  37. WT says:

What they said. Also, since I haven’t commented here before, I’ll throw in a “HOLY CRAP THIS COMIC IS FRIKKIN’ AWESOME!” for good measure.

  38. Tuccy says:

Ramon, no sweat, take your time ;) Though your comics is awesome and I can’t wait another episode, it’s not worth your health! Take rest, we’ll wait ;)

  39. J2MEJediMaster says:

    Ramon:

I know what you’re going through. I just pushed a manual out the door last week and the succession of late nights slagged me. Then a blood infection took root. I spent an afternoon in the ER and the rest of the week chugging antibiotics. Take care of yourself. I can be patient. I’d hate the see the strip stop because you got seriously ill.

  40. -w. says:

I agree, take care of yourself, we can wait for a bit.

a couple days delay vs a month is a very small price for such a pretty comic.
the octopus with the hat, rocks!

  41. WV says:

take it easy, we’ll survive with a late update. good luck with your deadlines!

  42. Dev says:

Don’t believe all these nice people – we can’t wait. I’m beginning go through withdrawal.

The DT’s are terrible — I’m seeing things, strange floating creatures wearing hats, insects eating bedroom furniture, talking skeletons. Oh wait, maybe that’s just from re-reading through all the archives.

Love the comic; take all the time you need. I haven’t even finished chewing off my right leg, and I’m sure the left leg will take another day. I can wait…really…

ps Thanks for the sweet note at the top of the page to let us know things will be delayed. You’re so respectful of your readers as well as a great artist. Cheers!

  43. kristina says:

@ Dev, You took the words out of my mouth! :)

  44. Steve B says:

This strip is Always worth the wait…And since i finally had time to check out butternutsquash i have a lot of catching up to do

  45. Steve B says:

    SWEET! :)

  46. kristina says:

I’m sitting here reading the old pages, and I was wondering what Nadia’s hat will be like! I can’t picture any hat on her head, maybe a top hat? Hmmm, or a ball cap. DUNNO. Just thought I’d share! :)

  47. Astrocom says:

    whooa missed that one
@Odo, actually I’m more of a mad scientist type, I was thinking of literally having a pen move across paper at 340m/s (or ~760mph), moving the pen that fast would be comparatively easy, having it make a line on the page while doing so is going to be the hard part…

  48. Dlaiyre says:

    I love you Ramon.

Stay healthy, everyone understands that you do this on the side. We really do appreciate you informing us though, Many webcomics don’t even do that.

  49. Sam says:

Dude…take it easy get some rest and finish the comic when you can….then post it ASAP……ok

  50. Sam says:

p.s. its already Wednesday here where I’m at so…Thursday for me :-(
