…welcome back! i hope you all had lovely holiday. i unfortunately had to work through most of mine, but i did manage to sneak in a little downtime with the relatives.
i know some of you are going to hate me. nothing like a two week wait after the main character is thrown from from a precarious precipice to return to a scene change :)
before we return to nadia there are a couple loose ends that have to be taken care off. this week is obviously a flash back to reggie’s mission, but we also get to meet the aforementioned tillywump, the natural predator of the chapeau.
i try to write and illustrate the story to beats and notes. things play out almost musically in my head, and this is where the tune has taken me. hopefully it plays out just as well for you, the readers.
also, for all those who have succumbed (as i have) to the social networking monster know as facebook, i have created a group to have a little fun and help waste more time! so if you’re part of the machine join in and help build the FACEBOOK|KUKUBURI community.
till next week!

will do
I love this… keep it up.
Zub zub!
Very nice…
Must be so much fun to draw!
that little guy is fast and strong=cool bug in my book!!
Poor yellow monstery guy!
hell, fine, I’ll join the damnedable facebook… my buddies were bugging me to use it for skiing notices anyway…
That little crying eyeball bubble is brilliant.
Hooray, Reggie!! ^____^ Those blue ferret guys were beautiful, btw. But where’s our heroine?? *waits anxiously*
Traveling rapidly from page twenty-seven to page forty-eight, an (apparently) rocket-powered bug wearing an aviator’s cap has rescued a package. I am presuming that the tillywump likes the taste of the beings that wear hats. I would have thought that it would have peeled the package before swallowing it whole, however. Love the way that the sniffing of the tillywump carried over the previous two pages. The question is… where did it get a ladder?
Now Reggie must re-traverse the route he took before and then catch up to the battlewhale. What dangers may lurk in that trip? I suspect more than one, but Reggie strikes me as resourceful.
As for the otters (not ferrets) — I suspect that they may be instrumental in rescuing Nadia. Just a suspicion, you know. They are very beautiful.
YES!! Go Reggie, smooth move!
i’m gonna ask for a blue ferret this x’mas. i’ve always wanted smthg to zoom arnd my room.
love this strip SO MUCH! zub zub ZAH BRAM!
Anyone else getting flashbacks to The Rescuers? Ramon, your comic is so amazing, and it has a good feeling infused into it. It has so many retro vibes to it, without feeling old or redone. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!
Finally, something worthwhile on Facebook.
To the rescue!
I don’t know if I said this already, but I love your choice of colour tones, they are just… the perfect ones!
Also…
*gives the yellow one a cookie* There there, no nead to shed tears.
Always amazing.
What software do you use to create your work?
glad to back, and glad as well that my quiet interlude went over well :)
thanks again for the kudos everybody! i get such joy from working on this comic it’s just plain silly, and it’s nice to see people are enjoying it in turn.
nashoba, regarding your query, i do everything by hand (i draw kuku on smooth bristol and ink it with staedler pigment liners, which is a change of pace for me as i’m a huge advocate of the brush for inking) and then scan the images in and colour them using photoshop and then lay in the text with illustrator. hope that answers that :)
Loving the comic (friend just got my hooked) your art is lovely, I read a lot of web comics, but hardly any as good as this. I especially love your use of hats! I am a hat lover myself but the fact that the little brittish lizard wears a fez confuses my and I keep giving him a russian accent rather than english in my head. but besides that can’t wait for the next comics!
I can’t stop saying tillywump… tillywumptillywumptillywump…. hee :)
Seriously, this comic should come with a Surgeon general’s warning for addictive substances. I cannot look away. And where is Nadia???
heh, i didn’t realize the name was that addictive. now you got me saying it!
as for nadia, good question…
zub zub!
I absolutely love this comic. I got my sister addicted over the holiday and now I can hardly wait for Tuesdays. Who’d have ever thought I would look forward to a Tuesday?
Man, what a trip. I moved last november, to a place with no net. Then I get the net hooked up, and less than 2 days later my computer dies. About a week later, a mate lends me some parts to build u a new system, but it has issues. So after pulling my hair our for 2 days, I finally take it into a shop to get it fixed, the first time in ages I’ve had to do so. And I got the computer back on line today.
This is one comic that reigns eternal. I’ve missed Kukuburi.
So, how long until we get to find out what’s happened to Nadia??

Zub Zub Zah Bram Indeed.
I’m sorry, but after that scene, I will always think of Reggie as Evenrude, a la “The Rescuers.” Excellent page
I’m dying to find out what kind of hat she’ll be wearing! I love fedoras but I bet she’d look best in a pageboy.
I love the noise that guy makes. Zub zub. Reminds me of the Orcs in Warcraft II.
I love that the big, dumb, yellow guy is so sad he didn’t get to eat the box. I also love how the “rescue bug” is just barely hangin’ on to that package; like it could go flying out of his little fingers at any second! Too perfect!
that eyedrop bubble on the yellow monster is a very nice touch.
Go, Reggie! GO!
