Update and Upcoming Conventions

hey there everybody,

figured it was time for another update to let you all know where things stand.

thank you for all the kind words and support – you people are fantastic! it really heartwarming to know people are anticipating the continuing adventures of nadia. it’s an excitement that drives me on as i work on the new pages. speaking of which – the end of summer has geared up to be a lot busier than i expected. as well, on a personal note, there was a death in my family a short time ago, a close uncle, whose passing has become a catalyst for a gathering of extended family on my fathers side. many cousins, uncles, and aunts, some of whom i know others of which i do not. i will be travelling to spain shortly to be part of this first time ever event of my father’s family and greatly look forward to it.

i mention this, as these travels will eat into a good chunk of my time as well it is causing me to accelerate my regular work schedule before i leave. so my days are jam packed with contracted work for the near future. i had hoped to begin updating with kukuburi before leaving, but i would have to put it back on hiatus just as quickly as i would be gone and do not have the pages done to post whilst i am away. so i have decided to wait till i return and can update continuously. the way my schedule looks, updates won’t begin till late fall at best. most likely by mid-october – as the time approaches i will post an official relaunch date.

sorry to make you wait even longer…

the last thing to touch upon is the remainder of conventions and festivals that i will be attending in 2010.

FAN EXPO TORONTO – CANADA Aug 27-29 (this weekend – artist’s alley P40A!)

XV JORNADAS de COMIC, VILLA de AVILÉS – SPAIN Sept 15-18

NEW YORK COMIC CON, NY – USA Oct 8-10

if you’re in the area of any of these great shows please swing by and say hello! as the days get closer i may announce special items that i may have at each of the prospective shows…

talk to you soon,

r.

dashed hopes and other things…

not dead, just busy working away.

as i mentioned in my last post i’ve been away from the drafting table on a personal level for the past couple months for a variety of reasons. the main one of which is that i was buying a house. i decided to take that big first step into being an official adult (it’s a facade really) and become a homeowner, especially after all my renting woes of the past few years. it took an inordinate amount of time, and a lot of hunting, but i found what for me is the perfect place. after writing the biggest cheque of my life i made the move on july first weekend and have been slowly unpacking and settling in over the past few weeks. the place feels great – like i’ve lived there for years – despite still having much of my stuff still in boxes. though i hope to rectify this in the weeks to come.

so what about kukuburi?

i’ll be honest there’s been a little more focus on unpacking, catching my breath, and building up my coffers over the past month, but in my spare time i’ve been writing the end of kukuburi chapter one. once i feel happy with what i have i shall begin my doodling endeavour – of which i’m not too far from starting. however – rather than begin updating as soon as i have drawn a couple of pages i am going to wait till i have the majority of the remainder drawn. i’m hoping half. the initial arc of the story is ending and i want to make sure it goes up uninterrupted, so i won’t begin updates till i feel i have a comfortable buffer.

hope y’all can respect that.

that said, when will updates begin? gimme the remainder of the summer to get unpacked, settle in, and do some doodling, and i promise you it’ll be worth the wait…

i’m aiming for the end of august/beginning of september…. i’ll post a more exact return date as the time get closer.

best,

ramon.

ps/ since a few folks requested, below is a wallpaper based on the image of nadia from the last blog post! click on it to make it big and make it your own… desktop that is.
