sixty|eight
well that took forever. once again my apologies.
while i’m here i’d like to give a shout out to two great comics that have been helping me procrastinate from time to time:
anders loves maria & octopus pie
check ‘em out if you have a moment. they’re pretty awesome.
i’ve noticed some story point discussions of late between some regular posters. i’ll be honest, this tickles me pink. especially when some come close to nailing things on the proverbial head. i both love and curse you when this happens
my best and thanks to you all.
…aaand if you’re around friday you’ll learn a bit more about the tillywump in the cast section… Â

March 12th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
You shouldn’t be so apologetic, cuz if you think about it….You just gave some of us what they wanted…..more updates! I noticed ‘anders loves maria’ on your links yesterday and read thru the archives, It’s very well done! Oh, well, I’ll be back tomorrow. Thanks Ramon!
March 12th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Ooops, I think I got ahead of things ….and sent my msg before you were even finished! Ooops!
I think she’s getting closer! Maybe the battlewhale will be in sight soon, Looks like she’s almost near the center, where they entered thru, possibly!
March 12th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Nice landscape! I like how the the unfolded mushrooms kinda look like mangosteen and how they go through the opposite process that most mushrooms go through. I like how the lizards are kind of bouldery in design. Speaking of boulders, what happened to that 2 armed floating one that seemed to be following nadia?
March 12th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Don Ramon -
Thank you - now - go back to bed for a day or so - your health is important to you . The rest of us can wait -it is your wellbeing that will continue to produce the best web comic going today .
March 12th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
well worth the wait!
and beautiful as always
March 12th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
heh heh - thanks all
no bedtime for me though. maybe in april
seolyk, not sure if you missed it, but there is one more page before this one that went up with today’s update.
time for more doodlin’…
March 12th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):):)
March 12th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
XD “…seriously?”
That’s the best reaction to monsters ever.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:27 am
I think we’ll see the as-of-yet unfaced floating two-arm come to the rescue of Nadia in her time of obviuos lizard-facing need…
March 13th, 2008 at 12:59 am
Yeah, she really needs a friend right now. Without Mr B, she needs a local guide.

March 13th, 2008 at 1:31 am
Anyone notice both the comics he linked today have similar visual styles? Just saying! They’re both great reads, though.
Keep it up, Ramon! I promise I’ll donate money to you guys as soon as I find a job myself. (Pinky swear overtheinternet!)
March 13th, 2008 at 1:42 am
run, nad, RUNNN! D:
March 13th, 2008 at 3:23 am
d’ya think maybe she could ride those lurky green things?
March 13th, 2008 at 6:26 am
Awesome as usual. Your colors are great, that looks like the most time consuming part of each update. How long does a page take you just out of curiosity. Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for putting in the hours for our enjoyment. And don’t beat yourself up over being a couple days late here and there, get your rest for god sake. Take care.
March 13th, 2008 at 6:29 am
See, the caterpillar in the first page of this post makes me think of Labyrinth, and these dudes remind me of Flotsam and Jetsam. But it’s still all unique. HOW DO YOU DO IT???!!!
March 13th, 2008 at 7:04 am
I’ve stopped trying to guess. I’m always wrong.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:10 am
I’ve not been following this long, but I’m addicted… and it’s genius, pure genius
March 13th, 2008 at 10:08 am
I agree with Shazzbaa “Seriously?” is the best reaction to monsters ever. I hope Mr. Floaty McLongarms is a friend cuz I don’t see any hats on those lizardy Beasties.
March 13th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Floatsam & Jetsam, yes I see the resemblance… but also kudos to you Ray for including a little Rankor influence there as well (or do I err?)…
..now back to work! Wha-Tisshh! (that was the whip sound…)
March 13th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Two days is “Forever”? Dude, are you in a competition with Piro to see who’s the most angsty comic dude?
It’s great, take your time…
March 13th, 2008 at 11:53 am
hey, did anyone else notice the little shadow resembling the skeleton doll on one of the rocks in the 3rd panel of the last page?
March 13th, 2008 at 11:55 am
don’t worry about it
March 13th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
but why not? its creepy >_>
March 13th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
More stuff to love…
March 13th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Awwwww! I want one! Put it on a leash and walk it round the streets. Big spiky collar, call it something unpleasant like Fluffy or Snuggles… best pet ever!
As per, it’s always worth the wait Ramon. Cracking work
March 13th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
this area that she’s in reminds me of Tuscon. I love her reaction to the creatures.
don’t be sorry it’s worth waiting for!
March 13th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
It’s all just…brilliant! Ramon, this comic makes my day, and it’s worth waiting for (said for the umpteenth time
I wonder if the Tillywump (whose name I adore) is a distant cousin of Mr. Floaty McLongArms, or if Mr. Floaty McLA is actually a little more devious than we think…
@ Seolyk : yeah, i did see the shadow! I wonder if it came to life and is stalking her, or if it will jump on our flotsam and jetsam/rankors and save Nadia.
March 13th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
I love the look of those creatures….but I still hope there slow movers and herbivore and there only after the mushrooms………
I can hope can’t I
March 13th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Wow! I am a huge fan of BNS and I was just passing thru here, when I saw your name I had to stop and read the whole thing. Me encanta tu arte, and I think you’re amazingly creative and talented. I will certainly be here every tuesday, hitting the refresh button again and again just waiting for the updates. Pero necesitas cuidarte! try to get some more sleep here and there!
Lovin’ the comic!!!!!!
March 13th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
Seriously, “…I’ve got to admit it’s getting better, better all the time…” I’m not going to say that it was worth the wait [even though it was], because everone else has already said it.
@ Seolyk: I saw the shadow too, but not till after I had read the new pages like twice, so my first thought was that it was a shadow from the mushrooms, but now that you mention it it does somewhat resemble the doll! *good eye*
March 13th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
Seolyk - wow, you’re right it kinda does look like that could be the shadow of the skeleton doll. Hmmm, so there is one more possibility…..besides that we know the floaty guy is following who could be a good guy and could be following the skeleton doll ‘if’ the doll is up and moving, or he could be bad….plus we know that the whale has got to be up in that sky somewhere, but of course we don’t know what’s happening between the whale and Mr. Bones bad guys….

Don’t forget Reggie… We know he rescued the hat, and it looks to me like the group of peaks in the top center of panel one of this page is lit from the inside (i.e. that is where the hole is).
I looked at the shadow, and I think it might be that the doll is being carried by Mr. Floaty, or that it was the shadow of the flower on top of his head. (seen in the video)
Hm… is it possible that Mr. Floaty *is* the rock that was impacted by Nadia’s first “hit”? That “Her” grace gave it life and awareness on the basis of that “hit”? That would tend to put it on Nadia’s side.
As a side note, the placement of the tusks would be right for herbivores, not carnivores. That is not as comforting as it might be since wild boars have tusks in the same place, and they are known to be omnivores and vicious. Damnation, another week… (sarcastic
face) *grin*
March 14th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Hello.
I just wanted to say That i’ve been checking this web comic every week. It is very very rare that i find something this entertaining. I’m not a big fan of web comics. However You have done incredibly well to keep my attention. This comic is weird enough I actually like it. That’s hard for a woman like me. I just wanted to say Kudos. And that you spurred me into starting my short stories that my husband has been goading me into writing. I hope to see more! All these Cliffhangers! what shall i do?!
March 14th, 2008 at 9:31 am
Ha! Not to re-direct from Kuku goodness, but you should check out Dan Piraro’s Bizarro comic today!
March 14th, 2008 at 9:42 am
My 3 and a half year old daughter was peering over my shoulder as I was reading this. Her respose ‘uh oh’. Congrats she can tell all is not good without reading the words and thats the power of comics. She has promised me that she will love comics as much as her old dad. I salute you sir.
March 14th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
I want one of those. Draw me one. D: Or I could draw one… I was thinking of doing some fanart.
Are you making a fanart section?
March 14th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
…
…the caterpillar looks like Wurmple.
And her belt looks like it has a Pokeball on it.
XD
You know, Nadia reminds me more of Tankgirl, sorta. I think it’s because I’ve not read/seen anything this awesome to compare it to.
[/doublepost]
March 14th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
I just discovered your comic today and read thru from start to current in one sitting. I love the style and story.
March 14th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
I will definitely be adding this to me favorites
March 15th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
amazing monsters, and i bet they’re hungry for human flesh!
March 16th, 2008 at 3:13 am
Kristina-
well if you look at the pan-out from the room you’ll notice at first its in the middle of the bed and the next time its leg is drooping off… so… i think its alive >_>
March 16th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Great! I’m all caught up right when the excitement begins again.
This is a great comic. It’s very well-drawn and seems to be well thought out. The story is interesting and the characters are cool.
March 17th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
woot! lovin’ it!
March 18th, 2008 at 7:00 am
Thank God It’s Tuesday!
I am really anxious to see what happens next
March 18th, 2008 at 8:17 am
One of two things:
1. She becomes a snack
2. Mr. Floaty-rock-thingy shows up and saves her metaphorical bacon.
….or I’m completely off base and then Ramon displays his comic genius once again and goes in a COMPLETELY different direction leading us all to believe, once again, that he is simply toying with us.
But in a nice way.
March 18th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
But is Mr. Floaty Rock Thing good or bad?
March 18th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
It’s tuesday but the new comic isn’t up! What happened??
March 18th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
*gaak* death… by… Kukuburi withdrawal…
March 18th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Patience, children. - w -
It’s amazing all the stuff I missed even with going back and reading most of the pages several times. Like that shadow. And how the skull doll is most definately inching off her bed.
( Maybe the evil dude is using it to spy on or follow her? Ohsnap, devious. )
So many possibilities. DD8
/refreshrefresh
March 18th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Patience is foreign to me.
March 19th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
“No pink skies” - nice comic reference.

Hello! Re-reading this again :p
Sooo in love with this fantasy land.
Just a note: be careful when you draw her in the second panel like this, there is something about her waist/chest/and or shoulders in the second panel that are making her look quite masculine…
I’m a picky booger! hope things are settling down for you. And regardless of the wait- please continue with your webcomics. Don’t feel bad when life gets in the way. It happens to anyone who’s alive
